A Quintessential Gieves & Hawkes Collection for Autumn Winter 2012

For Autumn Winter 2012 Gieves & Hawkes confidently delivers a luxury tailored collection that acknowledges the company’s past whilst ably demonstrating our continued significance and delivering some inspiring signature pieces.

The tailoring evidences clean, sharp lines, with classic shades of grey and navy highlighted with spectrum blue and accessorised with colourful bold geometric ties and pocket squares inspired by the work of seminal sixties interior designer David Hicks, producing a look that is at once classic, sophisticated, modern and very British.

With an eye towards the heritage items of the house such as the Peacoat and Admiral Coat, we have injected a dose of modernity into these iconic pieces, keeping them relevant for today’s gentlemen. The Peacoat has been cut tighter and subtly decorated with engraved horn buttons with a delicate signature rope motif and the house Art Deco ‘GH’ logo. The Admiral Coat is a high-buttoned double breasted coat made of 100% cashmere in traditional dark navy; an investment piece for winters to come. The original design reflects the military history of Gieves & Hawkes but it is modernised with the stripping away of unnecessary elements, leaving an elegant and shapely overcoat to be worn over a suit.

Accompanying the classic blazers in season appropriate cashmere are sports jackets in a deep burgundy and a soft lilac, again in luxurious fabrics such as mink cashmere. The style and colour are reminiscent of the sixties, like the accessories, but are updated with a leaner silhouette.

Gieves & Hawkes’ military past has provided further inspiration for more casual outerwear options, the Abbey, a military inspired four-pocketed field jacket made with contrast fabric in navy, as well as a quilted jacket that owes its pattern to the classic military chevron. Beautifully designed but mindful of form and function, they are perfect with relaxed attire.
